In recognition of the ongoing need exhibited by local food pantries – many of which around the country are struggling to meet the demands caused by COVID-19 hardships – the Hobbs Police Department is organizing its first-ever “Cram the Cruiser” event to collect non-perishable foods and household goods on May 1st.
All of the collected goods will be donated to Isaiah’s Soup Kitchen in Hobbs, which provides completely free meals to transients and those in need of food on a daily basis. Along with non-perishable food products (such as canned goods, non-refrigerated boxed foods such as pasta, and peanut butter), the Hobbs police will be collecting eating utensils such as disposable forks and spoons, napkins and paper plates. Additionally, Isaiah’s Soup Kitchen is seeking cleaning supplies. All donations will be greatly appreciated.
Isaiah’s Soup Kitchen was founded in 1995 as a nonprofit organization to address the lack of support for transient and homeless individuals in Hobbs and provide everyone in need with a hot meal. More than 3,000 hot meals are served every month, or more than ten meals a day, including on holidays such as Thanksgiving when fellowship can be particularly important to individuals in need.
Cram the Cruiser will take place on May 1st from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Albertson’s parking lot at 2402 North Grimes Street.
