South Texas based Mighty Wash Auto Bath has purchased the whole of ZK Express, taking over operations on September 24.

Mightily Wash is one of the five largest conveyor car washes in the US  and has more than 10 locations in the Permian Basin and Texas.

The company was founded in 2012 in Lubbock by the late Dr. Mike Rice, who tragically died in a plane crash. Since opening its original car wash in 2012, the company has expanded almost every year adding additional car wash locations.

According to its website, Mighty Wash currently employs over 250 people. To this number some 120 employees are being added with last month’s acquisition of the ZK Express franchise.

Mighty Wash CEO Dr. Scott Spore says on a video stream on YouTube that he was more or less forced in 2015 into his position of leading the company after the death of his good friend and  the company’s founder Dr. Rice. As CEO Spore’s goal is to shape the business on a “biblical principle”  business model by “putting Jesus on the board with us. We incorporate what God would want for us, so when we make decisions, it is not just us. We incorporate what God would want for us, and it’s really cool,”  he says. We wait and see and then “the doors open.”

Dr. Spore emphasizes the importance of treating customers with love, giving them good service and being a good neighbor to the community.

According to Kassis Companies CEO and president Nadeem Kassis, who operates businesses throughout southeastern New Mexico and west Texas, Mighty Wash offered to purchase all ZK Express operations, noting that the two companies operate in similar manners. Kassis agreed to the sale, but a sales price has not been disclosed.

In the deal Mighty Wash acquired the ZK Express Tornado car wash chain, with four operating locations, two in Hobbs, one in Carlsbad and one in Odessa, Texas, plus one that is planned at 720 South Main in Lovington. Mighty Wash also purchased  ZK Express Auto Spa at 1630 North Dal Paso Street and ZK Express Lube.

Hobbs residents know the ZK brand well. The first Tornado car wash opened its doors about eight years ago, about three years after Auto Spa became a fixture in Hobbs. Well known ZK Lube has been around much longer for more than 20 years.

According to Mighty Wash management, after a couple of months the ZK Express look will be replaced by that of Mighty Wash. With the new look, a grand opening for all to enjoy will be organized.
