The Fourth of July is just around the corner, and Lovington’s “Party in the Park” offers something for everyone with a full day of scheduled activities.
The event, sponsored by the Lovington Chamber of Commerce, will be held at Chaparral Park, located at 1005 South Commercial Street, on Monday. July 4. The event’s flag raising ceremony is scheduled for 8:45 am.
Parade Starts at 10:00 am
The “Party in the Park” Parade starts at 10:00 am. This year’s theme is “Let’s Parade for Liberty”.
Line-up and same-day sign-up for the parade is from 8:30 – 9:30 am. The parade starts at Taylor Middle School and passes by Goodlife Senior Living Lovington, then east on Avenue D, then south on Main to Avenue K, continuing to Chaparral Park.
All are encouraged to wear RED, WHITE and BLUE and to bring umbrellas and chairs.
Other Party in the Park Events
The annual Car Show and Street Fair begin at 11:00 am. Of course, the Food Court will be a big attraction and open throughout the day in the Chaparral Park main entrance area.
Tee off for Disc Golf is slated for 9:00 am (registration at 8:30). Competitors can choose from three divisions: Advanced (entry $15.00), Recreational (entry $10.00) or Beginners (entry $5.00). “This event will be 100% payout!”, states the Lovington Chamber of Commerce at its Facebook page.
The Kids Fishing Derby is for ages three – 17. Sign-up starts at 7:30 am. Complete rules are available at the Lovington Chamber’s Facebook page.

- 575 Tumbling at 6:00 pm
- Lizard Race at 7:00 pm
The all important Fireworks Show presented by the City of Lovington is slated for 9:00 pm.
