The 2021 Lovington Electric Light Parade, sponsored by the Lovington Chamber of Commerce, is happening on Friday, December 3, at 7:00 pm. The annual event, now nearly forty years old, offers fun for the whole family. 

The parade is free to all floats, although registration is necessary by Wednesday, December 1. To register go to the Lovington Chamber of Commerce website. The public may also register in person at the Lovington Chamber office located at 116 East Central Avenue. You may also call 575-396-5311 for more information. 

According to the electric parade registration form, entries submitted after the December 1 deadline “will be placed at the end of the [parade] lineup.” 

2021 parade entries will check-in starting from 5:30 pm in the Taylor Middle School parking lot located at 700 South 11th Street. 

Parade entrants may choose whether to be judged or whether not to be judged. Judging will take place during the parade itself. Additionally, voting will be possible at the Lovington Chamber of Commerce Facebook page through December 14.

Companies may enter more than one vehicle in the 2021 parade. Organizers will place all vehicles larger than one-ton pickups, such as backhoes and tractors, at the end of the parade to better administer the flow of traffic. 

According to information published by the Lovington Chamber, this year’s specific parade route is to be announced. Traditionally, the parade is on Lovington’s Main Street. However, with the current US 82 reconstruction project between mileposts 171 and 172, some adjustments may be necessary to this year’s parade route.

The parade will begin at 7:00 PM. Spectators are able to watch for free from along the sides of the road, but should be mindful of private property. Bring folding chairs for comfort and prepare for colder weather.
