Hobbs poet Peter Mladinic will give a brief reading and sign copies of his new book “Knives on the Table” at the Lea County Museum on Thursday, Dec. 9, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
In a slightly different approach to a traditional book signing, following the reading Mladinic will be interviewed for a few minutes by LCM Director Jim Harris about the writing and the preparation for the publishing of his new book and the several other books he has authored over the years.
“Knives on the Table” is published by the company Better Than Starbucks in Mayo, Florida.
The book has received very positive reviews from several well-known, award winning writers, such as Steve Yarbrough, author of “The Unmade World” and the winner of the 2019 Massachusetts Book Award for Fiction.
Yarbrough says, “I have been an admirer of Peter Mladinic poetry for forty years.”
Glen Sorestad, Poet Laureate of Saskatchewan, Canada, writes, “The title says it all. This is a book of poems by a poet who is a skilled storyteller, but where the poet takes us in the poetry of his book is not necessarily where we expected to go.”
Pulitzer Price winning literary critic Elizabeth Frank says, “In this richly varied collection Peter Mladinic’s myriad voices reveal his extraordinary gift for lyric storytelling.”
For many years, Mladinic was the Director of the Lea County Museum Press, a Lea County nonprofit organization responsible for publishing 16 different books in the last 14 years.
Mladinic will answer questions from anyone who comes to the book signing, especially those who are also interested in writing a book or getting a book published.
