About Bill Engval
Engvall is best known for his “Here’s Your Sign” bit in his stand-up comedy act. His performance in Hobbs on Saturday night is one leg of the entertainer’s multi-state, farewell tour entitled, “Here’s Your Sign – It’s Finally Time”. Engvall has decided to “hang-up his hat” as a stand-up comedian after nearly 40 years on the stage.
About his decision to move away from stand-up comedy Engvall says in an article posted at PRNewswire.com, “‘I have been blessed with the greatest career anyone could ask for. Making people laugh is a dream job and has fulfilled my life in so many ways. I’m excited to focus on future opportunities in entertainment and spend more time with my family. I’m not going anywhere – just hanging up my hat when it comes to sleeping in the airport and in-room dining.'”
A native of Galveston, Texas, Engvall and his wife now reside in Park City, Utah. According to his website, Engvall is considered one of today’s top comedians, not to mention one of the busiest.
“The thing that makes any entertainer successful is the ability to connect with an audience,” states his website. He does this by “…sharing the humor in everyday situations….”
Engvall’s first big gig was appearing with Rosie O’Donnell in Showtime’s “A Pair of Joker’s”. Next, he hosted A&E’s “Evening at the Improv”. He has appeared many times on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and on the “Late Show with David Letterman”.
In 1992 Engvall won the American Comedy Award for “Funniest Male Stand-up Comic”, and in 2013 he danced all of the way to the finals on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars”.
During his career Engvall has hosted and appeared on numerous television shows, including the game show “LINGO” and “Mobile Home Disaster”. He is fondly remembered for his recurring appearances in FOX’s “Last Man Standing” where he played Reverend Paul.
As a comedian Engvall remains in the spotlight as part of the hugely successful Blue Collar Comedy Tour.
Since 2016, Engvall has served as the host for the weekly podcast “My 2 Cents”. The broadcast offers “…his funny, thought-provoking and unique perspective on just about everything,” states an article posted at KBAT.com.
Engvall’s performance in Hobbs is likely to prove legendary and should not be missed.
