Lea County Sheriff’s deputies were called to assist the Tatum Police Department on Sunday, July 31 in an incident in the 700 block of South Cobern Avenue in Tatum.
While at the scene of the incident, sheriff’s deputies learned of a possible homicide that “reportedly” occurred on Thursday, July 28, north of Lovington.
A Lea County Sheriff’s Office press release states, “Investigators were led to an abandoned gin near the intersection of Prairieview and Hennington, where they discovered a body concealed on premises.”
After further investigation and interviews detectives arrested Antwain Nilo Sosa of Hobbs. Sosa, age 19, has been charged with Murder First Degree Felony, three counts of Tampering with Evidence Third Degree Felony, Kidnapping First Degree Felony and Bribery Intimidation of a Witness Third Degree Felony.
Sosa is being held at the Lea County Detention Center.
According to the press release, the identification of the victim of the murder has not been confirmed. An autopsy of the body is being conducted at the Office of the Medical Investigator.
