On Friday, October 27, a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 82 near milepost 163 west of Lovington resulted in the death of three individuals. According to a New Mexico State Police (NMSP) press release, the accident happened around 6:00 a.m. Drivers of the two involved vehicles Miguel Angel Delacruz, age 24, of Hagerman, and Emigdio Montano, age 74, of Lovington, as well as an unidentified passenger travelling with Delacruz, were pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
NMSP officers are attempting to identify the unidentified victim and notify the person’s family.
The NMSP stated that Delacruz was travelling east when he entered “westbound traffic” and struck Montano’s vehicle head-on. Delacruz was driving a four-door Toyota passenger vehicle, and Montano was driving a Chevrolet pickup truck.
A fourth person, age 31, was injured in the crash. That individual was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
“NMSP said alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash, and seat belts were not properly worn,” states an article posted at Everything Lubbock com.
